How Acrylic Light Guide Panels Work

Optical-grade acrylic light guide plates are designed to capture and retain light emitted from edge-mounted or backlit LEDs. As the light travels through the panel, it interacts with the engraved or printed guide points. These points disrupt the light's path, converting the guided light into a uniformly emitted surface glow.

To increase efficiency, a reflective film is often added to the back of the panel. This reflector bounces stray light back into the acrylic layer, improving brightness and reducing energy waste. Acrylic light guide panels typically use single-sided micro-structured arrays, manufactured through extrusion molding for consistent optical performance.

Characteristics of Acrylic Light Guide Plates

    Strong Plasticity

Acrylic light guide panels can be made into different shapes, such as round, oval, arc-shaped, triangular, wave-shaped, etc. (various shapes of 2D planes, simple 3D curvatures such as undulating waves, bending arcs, etc.), to meet different design needs.

    Strong Cutting Ability

Acrylic light guide plates can be cut into any size as required by the customer. They can also be assembled, making the process simple and convenient.

    High Light Conversion Rate

Acrylic light guide plates have a higher light conversion rate, over 30% compared to traditional materials. The light is even, with a transmittance rate of over 92%, no dark areas, a long lifespan, and can be used both indoors and outdoors.

    Thin Thickness

A common thickness for acrylic light guide panels is 6 mm. The structural strength, optical performance, and cost suitability of a 6 mm light guide plate depend on the panel size, LED layout, pattern and finished assembly. Light guide plates can also be made to 4 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, and 20 mm thicknesses as required by customers.

Applications of Acrylic Light Guide Panels

    Entertainment Venue Decoration

Acrylic light guide plates can be used for interior decoration in entertainment venues such as KTV, bars, lounges, and dance clubs. In KTVs, for example, light guide plates can be installed on walls, ceiling panels, corridors, and other positions to create a unique lighting atmosphere and enhance the aesthetic and ambiance of the space.

    Commercial Space Lighting

Acrylic light guide plates can be applied in display lighting in commercial spaces such as banquet halls, hotels, supermarkets, offices, and museums. Due to the plasticity and various color choices of acrylic light guide panels, the space can become more stylish. It's not just about aesthetics, but it also enhances auxiliary lighting in the space, making it brighter!
